Yorkshire and the Humber MEP Amjad Bashir has today hosted a set of high level events in Brussels showcasing the achievements of Leeds, Sheffield and York Universities.
The Conservative MEP, who campaigned for a Leave vote in the EU referendum, has been working closely with the White Rose University Consortium to promote their activities abroad and at home.
The seminar events being held today bring together politicians, officials, think-tanks and academics from across Europe.
Speaking ahead of the meetings Mr Bashir said: “I am extremely proud of the work being done by our universities in conjunction with researchers across the world.
“It is important that as the UK leaves the European Union our world class research institutions continue to work closely with their European counterparts.
“Today’s event is part of ongoing work I am doing with universities across Yorkshire and the Humber to ensure that their international links are nurtured and enhanced over the coming years.
“This Conservative government has a strong record of investing in research and development and I am in no doubt that Britain will continue to be a worldwide leader in science and innovation.”
