Eurosceptic MEP Amjad Bashir has condemned a bizarre EU video depicting leading Brussels officials as superheroes.
The Conservative MEP for Yorkshire and The Humber said the two minute animation, produced and posted online by the European Parliament’s authorities was “a farcical waste of cash”.
It shows a range of EU figures, including European Parliament President Martin Schulz and Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, in lycra body-suits and capes and with bulging muscles. It purports to explain the disputed “spitzenkandidat” process linked the the European elections which led to Juncker being declared President in 2014.
Mr Bashir said: “It beggars belief. I want to know who proposed this and who authorised it. And I shall be writing to
Mr Schulz to ask just how much it cost – if he ever comes back down to Earth.
“They are not super and they are not heroes – they are a bad joke. Anyone who wants to know why we must vote
Leave on June 23 – just watch this video.
“If Jean Claude Juncker is a super hero then I’m a Ninja Turtle.”
