Amjad Bashir at birthday celebrations for the Queen

Yorkshire Muslims honour Queen at 90

Yorkshire Muslims gathered in Bradford yesterday (Thursday) to mark the 90th birthday of the Queen.
Amjad Bashir, Conservative MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber, led the celebrations in singing birthday greetings to the monarch and sharing a specially-made cake, emblazoned with the union flag.
Mr Bashir said: “There is great fondness for our Queen as head of state of our great country and as leader of the Commonwealth.
“She is great force for unity and pride in our diverse communities. She has been the centre of gravity in our national life throughout her long reign. She is a faith leader who understands and respects all faiths.
“Muslims love and admire the Queen as the best example you could choose of their cherished values of devotion and duty.”
